phillip beasley: the documentary

In support of Philthy Rich’s “Phillip Beasley” album, EMPIRE & ABOVE ALL set out to better define the artist, entrepreneur and community figure oft vilified by the city of Oakland. Over the course of six months, I traveled around the West Coast to capture Philthy in the spaces he’s helped to build, be it his various business or the Sem City neighborhood.
